The CAT EMPIRE are on a National Tour following the release of a new album - LIVE ON EARTH - which incorporates recordings of shows from all over the world, spanning the band's career to date. Joining them on the road are PAPRIKA BALKANICUS (Romania, Serbia & Slovenia). CAT EMPIRE say, "we first met these "masters of great atmosphere" in the wee hours of the Edinburgh Festival in 2003". Paprika Balkanicus play a fiery blend of Balkan, Eastern European and Gypsy music and are one of the hottest newcomers in World music, there will be a couple of tracks from them.

Natacha Atlas
Natacha Atlas, a Belgian-born singer with Moroccan/Egypt and English backgrounds known for her fusion of Arabic and North African music with Western electronic music. She once termed her music "cha'abi moderne" (an updated form of Egyptian pop music). Her music has been influenced by many styles including Arabesque music, drum 'n' bass and reggae. Atlas learned several languages, including Arabic, French, English, and Spanish, and has used them all in the course of her career. Natacha Atlas is in Australia at the moment, appearing at WOMADELAIDE this coming Labour Day Weekend and in Melbourne at the Hamer Hall next Tuesday 10th March. Music from her last two albums.
Mish Maoul Ana Hina
Those Taureg tribesmen from the Sahara, TINARIWEN, the kings and queens of "Assouf" or guitar poetry from the Sahara Desert, will be in Melbourne, appearing at the Hamer Hall on 8th April, part of the Mix It Up series of concerts and pre-show activities. We'll play a track from them too.
